David Jones is a ceramic artist and theorist.
Currently he is serving on the Governing Council of the International Academy of Ceramics, where he has been elected to represent the UK, Ireland and Benelux countries.
He is a Fellow of the Crafts Potter Association of the UK.
He was awarded his PhD by Manchester Metropolitan University; his BA in Philosophy and Literature was from Warwick University.
He is the author of two books that examine the ideas underpinning ceramic firing:
Raku–Investigations into Fire(1999),
Firing – Philosophies within contemporary ceramic practice (2007).
His academic career focussed on the teaching and supervision of students for thirty years in the Ceramics Department at the University of Wolverhampton. He contributes in terms of thinking and practice to many international ceramic events.
